From Sarah Baker…
I’ve only been couponing for about a month now, inspired by the TV show to see what I could do. I was skeptical because we don’t eat a lot of processed foods but I thought, what have I got to lose?
I subscribed to my sunday paper and started clipping. What I quickly learned was the longer you coupon the more you can save. My biggest savings yet has been 46% on a grocery bill. By combining coupons with items already on sale I get the biggest discounts.
I had 3 $1/3 coupons for Pierogi’s that were on sale for 2/$4. If you bought three you also got a FREE Giant 1/2 gallon ice cream. By combining coupons and sale/free items I got 9 boxes of Pierogi’s and 3 1/2 Gallons of Ice Cream for $12. So $1 per piece…. roughly a 60% savings.
Be patient, you won’t use all your coupons every week and some weeks the coupons won’t be that great but the deals are there is you keep clipping and paying attention!

I recently started also. I have yet to save like on the TV show too. I have my binder though and I get up every Sunday at 5:15 am to go get my 6 newspapers
I feel it is just a waste of the paper since all I need are the coupons. I am hoping this site will help me with this and help me to be an extreme couponer in my own right. lol
Happy Couponing!
Consider subscribing to the papers, if possible for more savings. My Sunday paper is $1.75 at the market. But, only $1 by subscription. I have 6 delivered to my door every week. I donate the extra papers to a retirement home near me!
Hello Sarah,
I was glad to see a newby like me..lol well I am starting tomorrow. I have been so hooked on watching the extreme show also, and would like to start saving money. Good luck to you, and any more tips would be helpful.

You have to be have many, many multiples of certain coupons and then you have to wait for certain foods to be on sale at the exact time – like once every three months – for the food to be nearly free. I am having a hard time getting multiple copies of the redplum and smart source coupons that come in the papers without buying 15 newspapers. I feel shy about asking some neighbors about it, and I’m not sure what he newspapers themselves do when the papers are outdated. I’ve saved as much as 67% on a load of groceries, which was like $115 that day, and I was surely happy with that! We have saved hundreds since I started seriously couponing.
I have been couponing for years I not only have saved thousands of dollasr, but I have gotten a lot of free stuff through couponing. Ihave taught my daughter how to coupon and we do it together . I can go anywhere in this city and purchase whatever I want for pennies. It takes a little time but it can be done so keep couponing and you will see the saving start to roll in.
